I use 1-800-555-8355, all voice automated, has opening lines, decent updates and game recaps, can't expect much more for free...

It's 1800-555-TELL if it makes it easier for you to remember.

I use them all the time (and for about a year) to check on scores because they have no advertisements or anything. No, they do not return calls to you. The only thing that I wish was different was that they used to update their baseball scores up to the minute, but it seems like a couple of months ago, they changed their systems so they update every 10 minutes or so.
